Dr. Alfred Atanda Jr., a Sports Medicine Expert and Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon has joined XpertCare as one of the e-Consult providers.

Dr. Atanda is the Surgical Director of the Sports Medicine Program and a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Dr. Atanda is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and  completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He did his fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the duPont Hospital for Children. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. Atanda performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, ankle and elbow and he will head XpertCare’s sports medicine service line. His research explores the use of telemedicine in pediatric sports medicine. He recently published a study which showed that the use of telemedicine decreased cost, wait times, and increased satisfaction. At XpertCare, he will provide e-Consults on Joint/Cartilage injuries of the knee, Fractures, Osgood-Schlatter, Meniscus injuries, Dislocations, Bone infections among others.
