XpertCare, the Baltimore-based telemedicine company that specializes in pediatric subspecialty care is quickly growing its network of pediatric subspecialists in effort to increase the services offered.

Emmanuel Opati, the company’s C.E.O noted that; “We are focused on increasing access to Pediatric Subspecialty care and to do that,  we have to build a robust network of pediatric subspecialists. This growth means we can now offer e-Consult services in Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Affirming care, Pediatric Dermatology, Pediatric Allergy & Asthma, Pediatric Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, and  Child Psychiatry. We hear from families that they have to wait for weeks and sometimes months for a consult with a subspecialist. The challenge with the current system is that parents have to wait because they have no option. Our provider-to-provider e-Consult service is a great option for many families given our turnaround time of 48 hours.”

Sport Medicine
 (Expert at Concussions, Osteoarthritis, Fractures and other acute injuries)    

Dr. Mark Harary is Board-Certified in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in Movement Science from the University of Michigan in 1998. He went on to medical school at Ross University, where he graduated with honors in 2002. He completed a family medicine residency at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and then completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Dr. Harary specializes in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal problems in both pediatric and adult patients. He has a special interest in treating concussions, osteoarthritis, fractures and other acute injuries. He employs the most up to date treatments for these conditions, including ultrasound guided injections, PRP and Stem Cell treatments. He enjoys helping his patients return to, and maintain, active lifestyles. Dr. Harary is a concussion specialist with St. Charles Hospital’s ThinkSMART!™ Concussion Management Program which provides baseline testing and concussion management for over 40 school districts in Suffolk County. He serves as the sideline team physician for the Commack High School and Miller Place High School football teams.

Dr. Harary is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians and strives to be actively involved in his community. He has given numerous educational talks on various topics including nonsurgical treatments of arthritis and concussions. He has served on the planning committee for the annual Arthritis Walk for several years, serving as the Walk Chair for the NYC Arthritis Walk in 2014.

Dr. Ratika Gupta, is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Allergy & Immunology. Dr. Ratika Gupta attended Medical School at the Jefferson Medical College at the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. In addition she completed a year of Hospitalist Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Gupta did her Residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia and there after did a Fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Winthrop University Hospital, Mineola, NY. DR. Gupta is a dedicated physician who enjoys talking with her patients.

Dr. Gupta’s clinical interests are: Allergic rhinitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, angioedema, drug allergy, food allergy. She enjoys reading, blogging and spending time with family when she is not at work.

Dr. Sarah Samimi Field is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency and Allergy and Clinical Immunology Fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She currently practices at CHOC Children’s in Orange County, California. Her clinical interests include food allergy, asthma, eczema, with special interest in eosinophilic esophagitis.

Dr. Field is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. “I am very happy to join XpertCare Network as there is an large, unmet need for providers taking care of children with allergic diseases”, noted Dr. Fields.

Dr. Sonal Patel is double Board-Certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Pediatrics. She has recently joined Huntington Asthma and Allergy Center in Pasadena, CA. Prior to that, she was with Adventist health for 11 years. She has 20 years of experience working with the under-served. Dr. Patel initially trained in pediatrics at King-Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles. She then went on to complete a clinical allergy and immunology fellowship at the UCLA School of Medicine. She also completed a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. Her clinical interests include asthma and atopic dermatitis (eczema).

Dr. Patel is the coauthor of the MommyMD Guides to Twins, Triplets, and More. She has authored many blog post on allergies and parenting. Dr. Patel has a strong interest in working with inner-city patients and the underserved. She has been on international medical missions to Peru, El Salvador, and Mexico. She has also served on the board for the American Lung Association in California. She is currently on the board of the Los Angeles Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology and the California Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology.

Family Medicine
  (Expert at culturally competent and individualized Gender Affirmative and Queer Medicine)  

Dr. Crystal Beal, a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician, attended Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida.  While there, they helped found the LGBT+ medical student group. After medical school, they completed their training at Valley Family Medicine Residency Program in Washington state.  Continuing to see gaps in care for the LGBTQAAI2S+ community, Dr. Beal sought extensive additional training in sexual health, queer health, and gender affirming care including self-study, continuing medical education trainings, and shadowing experts in the community including Seattle Children’s Gender Clinic.
To fill those gaps, Dr. Beal provides high-quality, expert, and affirming gender care through their private practice, QueerDoc.  Dr. Beal started QueerDoc as an online doctor’s office providing culturally competent and individualized gender affirming care and queer medicine, like puberty blockers, hormone therapy, PrEP, and STI screening.  QueerDoc’s mission is to raise the bar in gender affirming care and increase access to high quality care by leveraging novel models of care like telemedicine.

Dr. Beal joins the XpertCare team with passion for their mission to increase access to pediatric specialty care and build community making gender affirming care more available everywhere.

Dr. Paul Ballas is a Board-Certified Child Psychiatrist who has treated children and adolescents with a variety of psychiatric disorders including; ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mood disorders and Anxiety disorders among others.

Dr. Ballas did his Medical School training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic, completed his Residency and Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.  He has won several fellowships and awards from nationally recognized medical organizations including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
